On November 6, 2026, the second meeting of the Regional Contact Group of Special Representatives of Central Asian countries on Afghanistan was held in Bishkek.

The meeting was attended by Yerzhan Kystafin, Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. During the meeting, the Kazakh side emphasized the importance of coordinating the efforts of Central Asian states and strengthening joint cooperation to promote peace and security in Afghanistan, as well as support the country’s sustainable development. Particular attention was paid to expanding trade and economic, transport and logistics, and humanitarian cooperation with Afghanistan.

The participants discussed opportunities to develop mutually beneficial economic ties, strengthen transport connectivity, and implement joint projects aimed at integrating Afghanistan into regional economic processes. In addition, the participants addressed current regional security challenges and reaffirmed their commitment to further developing multilateral cooperation among Central Asian countries.

Kazakhstan’s position reflects the country’s interest in strengthening regional partnerships, promoting stability in Afghanistan, and creating favourable conditions for the security and sustainable development of the entire Central Asian region.
