On October 30, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev participated in the 13th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), held in Ankara, Turkey. This year's summit was held under the theme "The Turkiye Century: One Language, One Vision, One Purpose". During the summit, the Head of State addressed issues related to further strengthening cooperation among Turkic countries, expanding trade and economic ties, and preserving their shared cultural heritage. According to the President, Kazakhstan's mutual trade turnover with OTS member states is expected to reach nearly $10 billion this year, marking a 40% increase compared to the previous year. To maintain this positive momentum and deepen economic integration, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed the need to accelerate the adoption of the Organization's Strategy for 2027-2031. The President also highlighted the importance of developing the "OTS Plus" format and proposed inviting Russia to join this format or participate in the Organization's activities as an observer. Special attention during the summit was given to cooperation in transport and logistics, digitalization, and artificial intelligence. The Head of State expressed Kazakhstan's readiness to share its experience in these areas with fellow Turkic countries. He also emphasized the need to accelerate the implementation of initiatives aimed at establishing a Cybersecurity Council, a Digital Monitoring Centre, and an Innovation Centre. Furthermore, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting the historical and cultural heritage of Turkic peoples. In this regard, he proposed stepping up efforts to adopt the Convention on the Protection of the Heritage of Turkic Civilization. The President also announced plans to hold the Khoja Ahmed Yasawi International Forum and a meeting of museum professionals in Turkistan in 2027. The Head of State also called for improvements to the Organization's institutional structure. In his view, it is important to define the key priorities for joint cooperation and establish a Council of Permanent Representatives under the OTS. At the same time, the President reaffirmed that Kazakhstan does not support transforming the Organization of Turkic States into a military alliance. Following the summit, the Ankara Declaration was adopted. The chairmanship of the Organization, previously held by Azerbaijan, was transferred to Turkiye. The summit was also attended by President of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow, and other official representatives.
