North Korea has conducted a test of a new type of cluster warhead designed for tactical ballistic missiles. According to the country’s state media, the munition is capable of striking an area of 12-13 hectares.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that the test took place on October 31, with the participation of research institutes under the country's Missile Administration. The main objective was to assess the new warhead's combat capabilities and destructive potential.

According to an official North Korean statement, the Standard Type-2 cluster warhead is capable of affecting an area of 12-13 hectares under conditions of high-density impact. However, these figures have not yet been independently verified.

A representative of the Missile Administration also stated that cluster warheads are divided into four types, depending on their purpose and intended use. According to Pyongyang's plans, all variants are expected to be delivered to military units by the end of 2026.

It is worth noting that North Korea has conducted several missile tests in recent weeks, intensifying its efforts to demonstrate its military capabilities. In particular, on October 29, the country launched approximately ten ballistic missiles from its eastern coast towards the sea.

According to analysts, these tests may be part of Pyongyang's broader strategy to modernize its armed forces and develop its missile capabilities.
